Grow Greene County announced the 2023-24 competitive grant application is available Oct. 1, 2023 and due by Feb. 15, 2024. These grants are open to nonprofit, governmental and charitable organizations from Greene County. Funds will be awarded in early April.
Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation is the local nonprofit corporation that holds the state gaming license for Wild Rose Entertainment, Inc.
All applications will be completed and submitted online only this year. Specific requirements and details are spelled out but not difficult to follow. The application is located on the Grow Greene County website, www.growgreenecounty.org and requires a login.
The actual application has not changed, just how it is submitted. Multiple representatives of an organization can easily work on the online application. This new process will centralize all communication for reports and notifications.
A workshop to assist applicants with this new process will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, at three times – 11 am, 4:30 pm, and 6 pm at the Greene County Extension office in Jefferson. Those considering an application are invited to attend.
Norm Fandel, president of Grow Greene County, said, “The Grow Greene board certainly wants to encourage groups to consider projects early and submit applications that continue to move Greene County forward. Successful applications seem to be those that support families and businesses. Look through past awards and think about what could make a difference in our county.”
Grow Greene County receives 5 percent of Wild Rose Jefferson’s adjusted gross gaming revenue, and grant awards are based on funds received in fiscal year 2023. Grow Greene awards 4.1 percent to projects in Greene County which includes population-based awards to each of the seven municipalities and the two school districts, the Greene County Community Foundation, and allocations for economic development projects. The remaining 0.9 percent is shared equally by the community foundations in the six contiguous counties to Greene County.
The Grow Greene County board of directors includes president Norm Fandel, vice president Craig Marquardt, secretary Peg Raney, treasurer Bob Allen, and Lori Mannel, Brenda Muir, Kate Neese and Rick Morain. In addition, two ex officio members serve: Dawn Rudolph of the Greene County board of supervisors, and Matt Wetrich of the Jefferson city council. Board attorney is Mike Mumma and administrative assistant is Cindy Duhrkopf.
